The very first day of the trek begins by exploring the heritage city Kathmandu, and then we headed to Lukla by an exciting mountain flight. Arrival at Lukla is the first dot of our adventure. From Lukla, we go ahead to Dudh Koshi valley – a place full of natural mystery with an astonishing peak of Thamserku and Kusum Kanguru. Then the way ascent to Namche Bazaar where we are welcomed by the beautiful mountain panorama. At Namche Bazaar we acclimatize ourselves to make ourselves adjustable to the high landscapes. During the stay at Namche Bazar, we too perform other activities like walking and viewing the cultural and natural inhabitants of Namche Bazaar. After one day stays at Namche Bazar the very next day we trek to Gokyo Valley by passing the Ngozumpa glacier and turquoise lakes. Then we incline up ourselves to climb the Gokyo Ri from where the smiling face of some renowned mountains like Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu can be seen. Engulf ourselves with the breathtaking natural beauty we then move forward to Cho La Pass to Lobuche. From Lobuche, the Khumbu glacier accompanies us to Gorak Shep. We then trek to Kalapatthar and visit Everest Base Camp. Then we cross Kongma La to Chukkung. Then our thrill of adventure gets some more boost up as we attempt to Island Peak.

Physical fitness

Everest high pass and Island Peak Trekking is for those who are physically fit and can walk for hours to reach their destination. It is the Strenuous trek that takes you to the fascinating Everest region and Island Peak after some hours of a walk down to the moderate paths. As the region lies in higher altitude, one needs to be physically fit and healthy. Before planning for this trek, you need to check your physical condition by consulting your physician. Similarly, handling the low air pressure, high winds and low temperatures and also practicing to carry the weight can help you through the trip.

Lodging and food

We will be greeting you at the International airport and make your stay possible at one of the 3-star hotels in the town. While you are on the Trek, you will be staying at the Teahouses. The stay may be twin sharing or single(depends on what you want and it is difficult to find a separate bedroom at high above). Likewise, Access the Asia will take you to the best possible place where you can enjoy the hygienic Nepali as well as International food. Accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner at different areas during trekking and in camping as per the holiday plan will be provided. For the Lunch and Dinner, while staying at Kathmandu, you are responsible for the payment. There will be the farewell dinner with every guest after they return form their Trek.

Best Time to travel

February to Mid June, September – Mid December is the best for climbing up the Base Camp. Dec & January are cold which can be snowy, July and August are rainy time, trekking can be done, but visibility can be weak due to rain.

Lukla flights

Lukla airport is also known as Tenzing Hillary airport which lies in Everest region where Mount Everest is also situated. The airport falls among the most dangerous airport in the world. It is a popular airport because it is the starting point for climbing the EBC. Due to the changing visibility and weather sometimes the flight gets delayed or canceled. You can only take 15kg of your stuff from the Lukla airport or to the Lukla airport (1 or 2 kg more can be taken with extra charge). If the flights get delayed or canceled then you can charter a helicopter which can be a bit costly or else if you go for sharing basis in the helicopter than the cost can be lowered compared to single charter.

Day 01 Arrival at Kathmandu

Welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport by our representative with company name on placard and direct transfer to hotel in Kathmandu (3 star). Our guide will brief you about next day plan on hotel.

Day 02 Sightseeing at Kathmandu valley and trip meeting.

On this day, cultural city guide will meet you at hotel and he/she will guide you around the Kathmandu valley and you will visit to world heritage sites Bhaktapur Durbar Square,Pashupatinath Temple,Boudhanath Stupa and other cultural and traditional areas after completion of city tour we will return back to office and meet the team and other participant members and discuss over the trip and we will give you a briefing about tour and we will make sure your all the equipments are ready and in fine condition.

Day 03 An early morning to Lukla from Kathmandu and trek to Phakding. (2610mtrs/8563ft). Flight 30 minutes and walking 3 hours. O/N at lodge.

This is the day where all the treks to Everest begins J .Your guide will meet you at hotel and you will be escorted to the domestic terminal of Tribhuvan International airport and take early morning flight to Lukla which is about 30 minutes from Kathmandu. In Lukla we will meet other staffs there we will set luggage for porters to carry. After that we will have a walk through the stone trails and forest observing the local villages and reach Phakding and stay overnight. Note: All the flights to Lukla are scheduled early in the morning however sometimes due to weather problem flight may be delay at those situations we would like you to have patience.

Day 04 Trek to Namche Bazaar (3440m/11286ft). Walking 5/6 hours. O/N at lodge.

On this day we will take breakfast at nearly 7:30 am and without out any further delay we set out for another 5-6 hours walk to Namche Bazar.On the trail we will pass through various suspension bridges and cross the Dudh Koshi river.We will encounter villages like toktok, banker and monjo, Monjo is the getway to Sagarmatha National Park our guide will complete all the necessary formalities to enter to the Sagarmatha National Park. After 15 minutes walk we will arrive at Jorsale and will take lunch there after that we walk alongside the trail of Dudh Koshi river and Bhote Koshi river and steep trails of hills. Overnight at Namche Bazar.

Day 05 Rest day for acclimatization and hiking upwards up to distance of 3400 to 3880 meters and back to lodge.

Although this is a rest day but actually after breakfast we will hike to Everest view point so as to keep ourselves active and adapt to climate moreover from Everest view point we will be able to view the scenic beauty of Ama Dablam, Everest, Lotse, Nuptse, Thamserku, Kongde and so on then we will return back to Namche Bazar and have lunch then if you are interested you can take a short tour of Namche Bazar. Namche Bazar is the biggest and colorful bazaar of Everest or Khumbu region, it is the hub for all the travellers and local people. There are cafes, cyber, pub, ATM’s and other local businesses. Overnight at Namche.

Day 06 - Trek to Phorste Thanga

This day the way will cost 5 to 6 hours of walking. On the way the majestic scenery of rhododendron forest, birds, animals, beautiful Mountain View and many more will pass by to ease us in our tiresome walk up to the Phorste Thang. The pasture of Yak, culture of the location, views of Khumbi la, Tawache, dudh koshi river and many more natural collection of the palce will make you stay at the place forever. We will stay at guest house overnight.

Day 07 - Trek to Machherma (4,470m) - 5 hrs

On this day sharing a beautiful memory with Phorste Thanga we are going to climb somewhere and descend somewhere, passing kengtega, dudh koshi river we will reach machherma (4470 meters).The dole village that we reach after passing forest, steepy upward trails. During summer seasons beautiful stream that can be seen on the way works on their higher current. After that the guest house at machherma will be prepared for local hospitality and we are going to stay there to drop our weariness of the day.

Day 08 - Trek to Gokyo (4,790m) - 5.5 hrs

Energy gathered after the rest at guest house day before is necessary to sufficiently involve in the challenge and excitement that Gokyo is going to provide it to us. Gokyo lies at an altitude of 4790 meters. The amazing view of Gokyo lake triumphs every trophy of natural beauty. We will do sightseeing and hike around the Gokyo. Then at night we will stay on guesthouse.

Day 09 - Trek to Gokyo Ri (5,483m) and back to Gokyo - 5 hrs

At day 9 we leave for Gokyo Ri after having breakfast. Gokyo ri is sitated at an altitudeof 5383 meters. It is a popular hamlet with stone houses and considered to be as one of the highest settlement in the earth. From Gokyo ri we will get to see many peaks with an altitude above 8000 meters like Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu.After engaged in the offerings of Gokyo ri we will descend back to leave Gokyo. At Gokyo we will stay at guest house for rest and dinner.

Day 10 - Trek to Thangna (4,500m) - 4 hrs

Then on day 10 we will trek to Thangna which lies at an altitude of 4500 meters. It will take 4 to 5 hours of walk to reach Thangna from Gokyo. At Thangna will stay at guesthouse and plan for the next day trekking to Cholapass.

Day 11 - Cross Cho La pass then trek to Dzongla (4,710m) - 7 hrs

On this day we will wake up early in the morning and leave Thangna for more excitement and adventure in our endeavor ahead. At an altitude of 5360 meters we will encounter with one of the popular and challenging mountain pass know as Chola pass. It is really challenging to cross chola and our guide will provide instruction to cross it. Crossing chola pass will add a new memory of adventure to you. Then we will trek to Dzongla which lies at an altitude of 4843 meters. From cho La pass to Dzongla a total of 6 to 7 hours of walk will exhaust ourselves to our maximum limit, to get relaxation from our fatigue we will stay at guest house in Dzongla..

Day 12 - Trek to Lobuche (4,910m ) - 4 hrs

After having breakfast we stand up to walk for lobuche. It will take 4 to 5 hours to reach Lobuche, an ancient Sherpa village. The local guest house is there ready for providing local hospitality to us. Overnight we will stay at Lobuche.

Day 13 Trek to Gorakshep ( 5,165m) and EBC (5,364m) total 6/7 hours walking and back to lodge.

Now we are very close to Everest Base Camp. After having an early breakfast we set for another 2-3 hours hike to Gorakshep. In between we hike through wide pass and walk through the glaciers and rocky terrains. After reaching Gorakshep we will have lunch we keep our luggage in hotel room and we take necessary items like down jacket, gloves, sunglasses, water and some snacks and hike through the glaciers and rocky terrains to Everest Base Camp. The base camp is stunningly beautiful and we can view the amazing scene of Khumbu glacier, Khumbu ice fall, and mountains like Nuptse, Khumbutse and Pumori. Overnight at Gorakshep.

Day 14: Early morning climb to Kalapathar and trek to Lobuche (4,910m) 5/6 hrs walking.

On this day we will wake up early in the morning and move to ascent Kalapathar. Kalapathar meaning black rock in Nepali Language lies at an altitude of 5,644.5, which gives a view point to watch the majestic view of Pumori. Kalapathar also provides a perfect position to watch Mount Everest. Then we will take a rocky trail, steadily descending to Lobuche. On the way we will encounter with various rare vegetation, animals etc. The day will end with 5 to 6 hours of walking and then we will stay at guest house to gain energy for next day.

Day 15 - Cross the Kongma La pass (5,535m) and trek to Chukkung (4,710m ) - 8 hrs

The day will bring a memorable excitement as we walk to reach Kongma La pass at an altitude of 5535 meters. The smiling face of Mt Makalu, the narrow ridge and other beautiful natural collection of the location are on our team to give ecstasy on our way to Chukung Valley. Overnight at guesthouse.

Day 16 - Trek to Island Peak Base Camp (5,240 m) - 4 hrs

On this day we will back pack all the essential required for climbing the Island Peak. Day six has a surprising offering to provide us. The walk from Chukkung via Imja Valley accompanied by the beautiful view of Ama Dablam, Lhotse to reach Island Base camp at an altitude of 5240 meters after a4 to 5 hours of walk. We will fix our tent at Island base camp because we are going to have accommodation in our tent. For dinner our well trained cook will prepare for us. We rest and plan for the next day tonight.

Day 17- Rest and acclimatization day.

At Island base camp we will rest for acclimatization to adjust ourselves on a thin air. We will also hike around the base camp, perform some creative activities like chatting, taking picture, playing etc and our guide will instruct you about climbing the island peak. The activities will rejoice us to success the endeavor of climbing the summit of standing 6178 meters tall “Island Peak”. We will rest in a tent overnight.

Day 18 - Reach the summit of the Island peak (6,187m) and return to Chhukung (4,750m)

At midnight after eating some stuff we will start climbing the Island Peak a standing white peak of 6187 meters. We will take icy route by lighting our head light we will reach high camp. Upto high camp the trail is difficult but still there are more difficulty and adventure to come through our way. At dawn we will reach to ice point where we will fix crempons on our boot for walking on ice.Then taking the ice trails will we gradually steep uward and ascent the Island peak. At Island peak we will take pictures for saving our memory of successfully climbing the island peak. Then Finally from Island Peak we will hike down to Island peak base camp and have some lunch. Then we will descend to Chhukung. We will stay at guest house chhukung.

Day 19 - Trek to Tengboche (3,860m) - 6 hrs

Taking the memory of magnificent Island peak we will descend to passing the suspension bridge followed by Debuche we will finally reach to Tengboche at an altitude of 3860 meters. It will take at least 6 hours of walking. We will stay at guesthouse in Tengboche.

Day 20 Trek to Namchebazaar ( 3,440) 6/7 hours walking O/N at lodge

On this day we take breakfast and buckle up to reach Namche. It will take 6 to 7 hours to reach Namche. On the way we will pass the forest and if we are lucky then we can see musk deer, damphe and other rare mountainous flora and funna. Then we will reach to Khumjung. After that we will descend from Khumjung and reach to Namchebazzar. Overnight at Namchhebazzar.

Day 21 Trek to Lukla 2,800m) 6/7 hours walking O/N at lodge.

After breakfast we are set for the last hike to Lukla. We hike mostly down the hill crossing multiple suspension bridge following the trail of Dudh Koshi river and enjoying the surrounding environment and local villages. We take lunch at Phakding after that we hike to Lukla with a comfortable pace. Overnight at Lukla.

Day 22 Flight back to Kathmandu 35 minutes, and transfer to Hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

We take early breakfast and are ready to fly back to Kathmandu. Arriving Kathmandu you will be escorted to hotel from our vehicle. At evening we will have farewell dinner in Nepali Traditional Restaurant.

Day 23 Departure from Kathmandu to your onward destination.

Our trek ends here, we would like to thank you for visiting Nepal and it was great for our company to do a wonderful trek with you. Our guide will escort you to Tribhuvan International Airport 2-3 hours before the scheduled flight time.

If you are physically fit, who can walk minimum of 4 hours then it is definitely for you. The minimum trekking altitude ranges from 2000 m plus and can go up to the maximum altitude of 5000 m plus.

Yes, you will, because you will be trekking in the remotest himalayan region of the world, where you are not familar with its trail, villages, people, and their culture. There, the local people do not speak English much, so you need a trekking guide, who can speak their language and Nepali.

Your travel insurance company must provide you Helicopter Evacuation Service. Normally, it will cost you up to US $5000 in Nepal. If you are coming to Nepal for climbing then you must do climbing insurance in your country as well. Carefully check the terms and conditions of your insurance company, especially what they cover during trekking and climbing.

US $ 20 a day is enough to buy a bottle of mineral water, tea, coffee and so on in the remote Himalayan Region.

The trekking guides of Access the Asia are well - trained in the first aid; they also carry the first aid box and do the necessary treatment for you.
