Mardi Himal Base Camp trek is newly opened trekking destination, in the famous Annapurna Region.  This off the beaten path in the Annapurna region is rich in diversity and the hidden trail is best suited for a short period of trekking and less crowded.  Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is located practically under the spectacular and serene Machapchhre (Mt.Fish Tail). Trekking along the ridge gives you an opportunity to view the mesmerizing Annapurna South, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, Dhaulagiri and Manaslu ranges.
Rhododendron forest blooming at its best with different colors is really wonderful. The trail passes through typical country villages with a small stone house and terrace farming.  The trail progresses from green and colorful forests and many other vegetation to a rugged trail with hard rock, bushes, and ferns.
From the high camp, we can see the amazing landscapes and valleys below and offers a full show of Annapurna Range. Others highlights include Machhapuchhre, Himchuli, Annapurna South, glimpses of Dhaulagiri and Manaslu ranges.
In this solitary trekking route, we can experience a typical Nepalese lifestyle, try local food, share local culture and capture and treasure the mesmerizing landscapes, valleys, and massive Himalayan mountains.

Outline Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300 m). O/N at hotel

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu and pre-trip meeting. O/N at hotel

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (823m) 6-7 hours of driving. O/N at hotel

Day 04: Drive to Phedi (20-30 minutes’ drive) and trek to Deurali (2100m) 5-6 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

Day 05: Trek from Deurali to Forest camp (Yak Kharka) (2520m) 6-7 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

Day 06: Trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp (2980m) 4-5 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

Day 07: Trek from Low Camp to High Camp (3540m) 3-4 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

Day 08: Trek from High Camp to Upper Viewpoint (4240m) and back to High Camp. O/N at lodge

Day 09: Trek from High Camp to Sidhing village (1700m) 6-7 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

Day 10: Trek to Lumre (2-3 hours) and drive to Pokhara (1.5 to 2 hours) and fly to Kathmandu (25 minutes)

Day 11: Final departure to onward destination


Physical fitness

Mardi Himal trek is for those who are physically fit and can walk for hours to reach their destination. It is the moderate trek that takes you to the Beautiful Annapurna vicinity after some hours of a walk down to the moderate paths. As some of the places lie in higher altitude, one needs to be physically fit and healthy. Before planning for trekking to Mardi Himal, you need to check your physical condition by consulting your physician. Similarly, handling the low air pressure, high winds and low temperatures and also practicing to carry the weight can help you through the trip.

Lodging and food

We will be greeting you at the International airport and make your stay possible at one of the 3-star hotels in the town. While you are on the Trek to Mardi Himal, you will be staying at the Camp/Teahouses/Lodge. The stay may be twin sharing or single(depends on what you want and it is difficult to find a separate bedroom at high above). Likewise, Access the Asia will take you to the best possible place where you can enjoy the hygienic Nepali as well as International food. Accommodation with breakfast, lunch and dinner at different areas during trekking and in camping as per the holiday plan will be provided. For the Lunch and Dinner, while staying at Kathmandu, you are responsible for the payment. There will be the farewell dinner with every guest after they return from their Trek.

Best Time to travel

February to Mid June, September – Mid December is the best for Mardi Himal Trekking.


Generally, we offer tourist bus for Trekking to Annapurna region which may take 6 to 8 hours. If you want to travel in private vehicles, then we can make it possible but it may take extra charges. Flights are also available.

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1300 m). O/N at hotel

The first day as you arrive at Kathmandu you will be received from airport by our company representative and transfer to the hotel with Bed & Breakfast plan.

Day 02: Sightseeing Kathmandu and pre-trip meeting. O/N at hotel

The very next day after you arrive to Nepal our company representative will take you to various renowned places of Kathmandu like Boudhanath, Bhaktapur durbar square, Kathmandu durbar square and many more for sightseeing. The sightseeing will help you to understand the ancient culture and tradition of Kathmandu Valley. After the completion of sightseeing we will gather together to planning about our trek for the days ahead.

Day 03: Drive to Pokhara (823m) 6-7 hours of driving. O/N at hotel

As per the planning, on day third we will departure from Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus. It will take 6 to 7 hours of drive which is really an exciting bus drive as you will see various beautiful places that are naturally rich and culturally affluent. The rivers, forest, natural vegetation and others are the prominent features of the places that we are going to pass by during our drive. As we will reach Pokhara our trek guide will transfer you to hotel of three star categories.

Day 04: Drive to Phedi (20-30 minutes’ drive) and trek to Deurali (2100m) 5-6 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

After our breakfast we drive along the Baglung higway to Phedi and we start our adventurous journey trekking to Deurali. We take a steep stone paved path up and pass small villages, terrace farm lands and small sparse forests up until the Dhumpus where we will have lunch. After Lunch we take few minutes rest and start a trek to Pothana a slightly downhill walk for about 2 hours where we enter and verify our TIMS and ACAP permits after that we walk through a consistent uphill through the jungle and reach Deurali which is located on the ridge of a hill from where we can observe the beautiful view of Annapurna South, Macchhapuchhare, Mardi Himal and others. Day 05: Trek from Deurali to Forest camp (Yak Kharka) (2520m) 6-7 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

We enter into a dense forest from Deurali , the path is slightly steep then we arrive at small ridge where we get a directional sign pointing our way to Forest Camp. The forest is full of Rhododendron which makes the forest colorful also our way and many other vegetation all the way to Forest Camp. There are very few lodges at Forest Camp but quite neat and clean which makes a good choice to stay in lodge.

Day 06: Trek from Forest Camp to Low Camp (2980m) 4-5 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

Today again we walk through the lush forest leaving Forest Camp. The time duration for the trekking is modest for this day as we gain the altitude above three thousand meters so that we can acclimatize ourselves. At, first the trail is very steep just after we leave forest camp until we reach a ridge then the path gets a bit plain with few ups and downs and we are accompanied by few occasional glimpses of Annapurna South, Himchuli, Machapuchhare (Mt.Fishtail) along with rhododendron forest and green valley down the hill. Day 07: Trek from Low Camp to High Camp (3540m) 3-4 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

After breakfast we continue our journey uphill along the ridge towards Mardi Himal. The dense forest gets thinner and thinner as we move up. We leave the temperate coniferous forest and enter into an alpine forest zone with shrubs and isolated rhododendron bushes , pines and birch along the trail. Daphne, pheasants and few others birds can be seen as we ascend up the camp. As we reach the High camp the we can view the mesmerizing mountains all around us. Overnight at lodge

Day 08: Trek from High Camp to Upper View point (4240m) and back to High Camp. O/N at lodge

After a scenic sunrise and warm breakfast we hike to upper view camp. We walk along the narrow ridges along the zig-zag up and down path and few pastures at some places. Reaching view point we can see the amazing Himalayan vista, which includes Mardi Himal (5587m), Annapurna-I (8091m), South Annapurna (7219m), Machapuchhre/Mt.Fishtail (6993m) and many other peaks . After spending some time enjoying the scenic snowcapped Himalayan vista and capturing them in camera we trace our way back to High Camp, where we spend our night at lodge.

Day 09: Trek from High Camp to Sidhing village (1700m) 6-7 hours of trek. O/N at lodge

On this day we trace our way downhill to low camp there we will have our lunch and then descend down to Sidhing village. We descend down through the pine and rhododendron forest, enjoying the bird chirping and small streams flowing, this different route makes our trip more enjoyable and gives us different experience. Sidhing village is a quite village very little facilitated with modernization and very few tourists takes this route. Sidhing village is authentic traditional village and you have an option to live in lodge or either have an experience of home stay.

Day 10: Trek to Lumre (2-3 hours) and drive to Pokhara (1.5 to 2 hours) and fly to Kathmandu (25 minutes)

We leave Sidhing and walk the road heading to Lumre, we pass Kalimati and Ghalel villages. Reaching Lumre we take a jeep and drive back to Pokhara and we take a filght from Pokhara airport to Kathmandu.

Day 11: Final departure to onward destination

Our office representative will drop you off at Tribhuvan International airport. We would like to thank you for doing this wonderful journey with us.

If you are physically fit, who can walk minimum of 4 hours then it is definitely for you. The minimum trekking altitude ranges from 2000 m plus and can go up to the maximum altitude of 5000 m plus.

Yes, you will, because you will be trekking in the remotest himalayan region of the world, where you are not familar with its trail, villages, people, and their culture. There, the local people do not speak English much, so you need a trekking guide, who can speak their language and Nepali.

Children under age 18 should be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Above this will be accompanied by a guide.

What is a climbing peak or a trekking peak? Climbing peak or trekking peak is an easy peak whose summit can be reached within 1 or 2 days. Its height ranges 6000 m plus. Some trekking peaks are Island Peak, Yala Peak, and Mera Peak.

It must include the terms and conditions that you need while trekking in the Himalayan Region in an altitude of 4000 m to 6000 m. Your travel insurance company must provide you Helicopter Evacuation Service. Normally, it will cost you up to US $5000 in Nepal. If you are coming to Nepal for climbing then you must do climbing insurance in your country as well. Carefully check the terms and conditions of your insurance company, especially what they cover during trekking and climbing.

US $ 20 a day is enough to buy a bottle of mineral water, tea, coffee and so on in the remote Himalayan Region.

Yes, you should. There is no fixed rates for tipping. Its up to you. But how much you tip should be reasonable.

What happens if I am injured during trekking? The trekking guides of Access the Asia are well - trained in the first aid; they also carry the first aid box and do the necessary treatment for you.

You will be flown to Kathmandu in a helicopter for medical attention.

Lodge or guest house accommodation.

Lodge, where, you will have meal, provides you drinking water. A liter of mineral water at lower elevation costs US$ 1, but at higher elevation, it can cost up to US $4.
