Things To Know before the Trip

Planning a trek with Access the Asia Treks is an adventure of a lifetime, offering breathtaking views, cultural immersion, and unforgettable memories in the land of paradise. To ensure your journey is seamless and enjoyable, here are the essential things to know before starting on your trekking adventure. This comprehensive guide covers all aspects of preparation, including visas, required gear, cash, first aid, and other important considerations.

Trekking in the majestic Himalayas with Access the Asia Treks is an extraordinary experience that combines nature, culture, and adventure. Whether you’re heading to Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, Everest Base Camp, the Annapurna Circuit, or less-trodden paths like the Manaslu Circuit, preparation is key. Each trek offers unique challenges and rewards, so understanding the terrain, weather, and local customs is crucial. Trekkers should be prepared for altitudes ranging from 1,000 meters to over 5,500 meters and varying climates from subtropical to alpine conditions.

Important Aspects to Know Before the Trek

Physical Preparation: Trekking in Nepal demands a moderate to high level of physical fitness. Begin training several months before your trek with a mix of cardio, strength training, and hiking practice. Consider altitude acclimatization as a part of your preparation.

Trekking Permits: Most trekking regions in Nepal require specific permits like the TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) card and area-specific permits. For example, the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) or Sagarmatha National Park Permit may be necessary. Access the Asia Treks will assist you with the paperwork. Therefore, our package includes these permit fees and other required documentation.

Cultural Sensitivity: Nepal’s diverse cultures and religions require respect and understanding. Familiarize yourself with local customs, avoid gestures that might be considered offensive, and follow Leave No Trace principles to preserve the environment. Access the Asia Treks is involved in various sanitation campaigns that is directly or indirectly providing the necessary support in preserving the environment being associated with the reputed NGO “Inspire the Youth”.

Visa Requirements

Nepal requires most international travelers to obtain a visa. You can apply for a visa on arrival at Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport or at Nepalese embassies abroad. The visa fee depends on the duration of your stay (e.g., 15, 30, or 90 days). Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your travel dates and bring passport-sized photos for the visa application. Access the Asia Treks provides assistance if you need guidance during the visa process.

Gears According to the Trip

Packing the right gear is vital for a successful trek. Access the Asia Treks offers gear rental options for specific items to reduce the burden of carrying everything from home. We have provided the gear details needed in our gear section. We are always ready to guide you for the perfect solution regarding acquiring the complete gears.

Cash Requirements

ATMs are scarce in remote trekking regions, so carry sufficient cash in Nepali rupees for the entire trip. While larger towns like Pokhara and Namche Bazaar may have banking facilities, many tea houses and shops along the trekking routes only accept cash. Budget for accommodation, meals and permits are provided by the company in our package. However, your personal expenses, extra food item, energy bars and incidental expenses are on your own which require the Nepali cash with you during the trek.

First Aid and Health Precautions

Access the Asia Treks provides basic first-aid support during your trek, but you should carry a personal first-aid kit for your personal medication. First aid includes essentials like:

  • Pain relievers – (On your own)

  • Oximeter – (Provided by the company)
  • Thermometer – (Provided by the company)

Most of the medications and first aid equipment are carried by the guide. Somehow, it is important for you to take it on your own for your safety and reliability. Stay hydrated, eat well, and listen to your guide’s advice about acclimatization. If symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) occur, inform our guide immediately.

Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation is mandatory along with the medical expenses occurred during the process.

FAQ

The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek is a renowned Nepalese trekking route that blends the natural grandeur of the Langtang Valley with the sacred and picturesque Gosaikunda Lake. It provides an excellent opportunity to enjoy the Langtang region’s various landscapes, rich culture, and breathtaking mountain views. Starting at Syabru Besi, the trip takes you past charming villages, lush forests, terraced crops, and majestic Himalayan peaks. Along the route, you pass Buddhist monasteries, Tamang and Sherpa villages, and the pristine Gosaikunda Lake, which is sacred to Hindus. The journey offers a satisfying adventure in tranquil surroundings as well as a view into Nepal’s traditional mountain life.

Yes, there are customizing possibilities for the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. Access the Asia Treks provides flexible itineraries that can be adjusted to your own choices and needs. You can discuss the duration, certain places or areas you wish to see, and the amount of difficulty you are comfortable with our experts. Adjusting the amount of days, adding side visits to neighboring locations, inserting rest days for acclimatization, or having cultural activities along the road are all options for customization. You can construct a personalized Langtang Gosaikunda Trek that suits your interests and demands by conveying your preferences and collaborating with Access the Asia Treks.

The Langtang Gosaikunda trip is a moderate-level trip with a few difficult sections. While it is not as physically demanding as other of Nepal’s more rigorous climbs, it does necessitate a decent degree of fitness and prior trekking expertise. There are uphill and downhill stretches, rocky roads, and some steep ascents and descents on the trail. The trek includes heights of more than 4,000 meters (13,000 feet) at Gosaikunda Lake. Acclimatization is essential for avoiding altitude sickness. In comparison to previous high-altitude hikes, however, the total height gain is very modest. The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek can be a rewarding excursion for hikers with modest trekking experience with the proper planning, adequate physical fitness, and good acclimatization.

The spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) seasons are ideal for visiting the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. The weather and trail conditions in the Langtang region are best during these months. The weather is pleasant in the spring, and the walking route is graced with gorgeous blossoming rhododendron forests. Autumn has clear skies, consistent weather, and exceptional visibility, allowing for spectacular vistas of the neighboring peaks. These seasons are also mild in temperature, making them ideal for trekking. Winter (December to February) can be extremely cold, with significant snowfall, while monsoon season (June to August) brings frequent rain showers, making the trail more difficult and less appropriate for trekking.

The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek does require permits. The Langtang National Park Entry Permit and the TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card are required for this trek. The Langtang National Park Entry Permit permits you to enter and trek within the Langtang National Park, whilst the TIMS card aids in record keeping and trekker safety. To ensure a trouble-free travel, it is best to secure these permits before beginning the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. Our company manages the permit for you and every necessary document required during the trek. Therefore, you can enjoy your time full heatedly during your trek.

Yes, altitude sickness is possible during the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. At Gosaikunda Lake, the journey reaches altitudes exceeding 4,000 meters (13,000 feet), and quick climb without sufficient acclimatization can raise the risk of altitude-related ailments. Allow enough time for acclimatization, rise gradually, and stay hydrated throughout the trek. Altitude sickness symptoms include headaches, dizziness, nausea, and exhaustion. If any symptoms appear, it is critical to descend to a lower altitude and, if required, seek medical attention. Physical fitness, acclimatization, and understanding of altitude sickness can all help to reduce the hazards associated with high altitudes. Trekking with Access the Asia Treks and having an expert guide can provide essential support and guidance in reducing altitude-related dangers.

Yes, we provide proper lodging on the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. Tea houses and lodges are located throughout the trekking path, offering trekkers comfortable lodging. While the facilities are basic facilities, they typically provide nice beds, blankets, and common dining spaces. Some lodgings may also have hot showers and limited power. However, this varies. It is recommended to bring layers appropriate for cold weather situations, as temperatures might drop dramatically at higher altitudes. Overall, the lodging options along the Manaslu Base Camp walk are suitable for trekkers to rest and recharge before continuing their adventure.
