Itinerary

Day 1

Once you arrive in Tribhuvan International Airport, you are welcomed to Kathmandu (1,400m) with a bright combination of culture, history, and energy. The vibrant capital of Nepal, hidden in a picturesque valley, between the green hills and the snow-white peaks in the background, offers first impressions of the country, its rich traditions, and hospitability.

Small streets are crowded with colorful stores, prayer flags are flying in the air over old temples, the scent of local food is floating in the air and the Himalayan country is introduced to the senses. Going up the mountain or discovering the heritage sites of the city, Kathmandu preconditions the memorable journey.

An overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Drive duration: 30 minutes

Accommodation: Luxurious hotel

Day 2

Preparation of expeditions in Kathmandu (1,400m) on Ama Dablam is an important phase before going into the Himalayas. The time spent in the city in doing logistics before the expedition usually takes some time where climbers organize their permits, TIMS cards and liaison officer approvals needed to visit the Everest region in Nepal. Thamel, the busy trekking center of Kathmandu, has a great selection of outdoor equipment, specialized mountaineering gear and last-minute supplies, and we help you to accompany a guide, porters, and flights to Lukla, the entry point to the Everest region.

This period in Kathmandu also enables the climbers to become accustomed to the climate over time, take time to rest after travelling, and also to psychologically prepare themselves to face the great climb ahead. You can use this chance to visit cultural sites like Boudhanath Stupa, Swayambhunath and Durbar Square and get to learn about Nepali culture. This is better prepared in advance as we are fully equipped, organized and focused in advance, making you ready to take the trek to the Ama Dablam Base Camp and the strenuous climb above.

An overnight stay in Kathmandu.

Drive duration: 2 hours (In case of Sightseeing)

Hike duration: 2-3 hours

Accommodation: Luxurious hotel

Day 3

After breakfast, you are escorted from your hotel heading towards the TIA (Tribhuvan International Airport). The exciting experience of the trip to the Everest region is a flight between Kathmandu (1,400m) and Lukla (2,840m). The short one can provide incredible airplane sightseeing of the Himalayan ranges, deep valleys and terraced hillsides, and has a landing at the most scenic and challenging landing point Lukla Airport. When you finally arrive in the mountainous region, the trail is crowded with porters, guides and other adventurers ready to start on their way to the Everest and other mountain ranges.

The walk, starting at Lukla, to Phakding (2,510m) is a mild introduction to Himalayan trekking. The path follows the river Dudh Koshi, through small villages, mani walls, prayer flags and suspension bridges, and provides the ideal combination of nature and culture. The relatively modest distance that climbers and trekkers have to cover helps them to acclimatize gradually to the higher altitudes and, therefore, Phakding is a perfect place to stay first before proceeding into the depths of the Khumbu Valley.

An overnight stay in Phakding.

Drive duration: 30 minutes

Flight duration: 30-35 minutes

Trek duration: 3-4 hours

Accommodation: Hotel/Lodge/Tea house

Day 4

After breakfast, this day is allocated for the trek towards Namche Bazaar. The walk between Phakding (2,510m) to Namche Bazaar (3,440m) is a slow but gradually increasing route along the Khumbu valley. The route is along the river, Dudh Koshi River, traversing a number of suspension bridges and traditional Sherpa villages, mani walls, and prayer flags, which line up the route.

Trekkers get a combination of forested trails, stone steps and a few sections of rocks all the time accompanied with breathtaking views of the neighboring peaks such as Thamserku and Kongde Ri. This part of the walk takes an average of 5 to 6 hours and covers an approximate of 10 kilometers (6 miles) thus a very good time to get oriented and have an opportunity to reach the higher altitudes.

An overnight stay in Namche Bazaar.

Trek duration: 5-6 hours

Accommodation: Hotel/Lodge/Tea house

Day 5

Before trekking, it is necessary to have an acclimatization day in Namche Bazaar (3,440m) to adapt to higher altitude. Trekkers sleep, hydrate, and take little hikes to the nearby viewpoints, including Hotel Everest View or Tengboche Monastery, and go to elevations of approximately 3,800 to 3,900m, to enable the body to accustom to the altitude gradually.

The day also gives the opportunity to explore Namche Bazaar, a vibrant Sherpa town where there are markets, cafes, and cultural attractions, with a mix of light activity, rest, and local culture immersion, to make sure that climbers are physically and mentally ready to undertake the higher-altitude journey they are about to go.

Whether you’re heading to Everest Base Camp, the Annapurna Circuit, or less-trodden paths like the Manaslu Circuit, preparation is key. Each trek offers unique challenges and rewards, so understanding the terrain, weather, and local customs is crucial. Trekkers should be prepared for altitudes ranging from 1,000 meters to over 4,700 meters and varying climates from subtropical to alpine conditions.

Important Aspects to Know Before the Trek

Physical Preparation: Trekking in Nepal demands a moderate to high level of physical fitness. Begin training several months before your trek with a mix of cardio, strength training, and hiking practice. Consider altitude acclimatization as a part of your preparation.

Trekking Permits: Most trekking regions in Nepal require specific permits like the TIMS (Trekkers Information Management System) card and area-specific permits. For example, the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) or Sagarmatha National Park Permit may be necessary. Access the Asia Treks will assist you with the paperwork. Therefore, our package includes these permit fees and other required documentation.
