On reaching Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, received by our guides and staff then transfer to your hotel in the hub of Kathmandu city, after getting refreshed join with other members of Mt. Amadablam Expeditions, where our guide will brief you regarding trek and climb, do’s and don’ts, Nepalese culture, lodge, camping on route trek and climb with full information to make your stay with us enjoyable and memorable, evening welcome dinner at typical Nepalese restaurant with folk-cultural program as entertainment during dinner.
We have allowed two days in Kathmandu for tour and final preparations for Amadablam Expeditions, morning an interesting sightseeing tour leading you in the heart of Kathmandu at old Durbar (palace) square of great historical importance includes Temple of Kumari (Living young virgin Goddess) Kastamandap Temple where Kathmandu name derived from, a temple built with the wood of a single tree, tour of old palace during the reign of Malla and late Shah kings.
Tour leads to famous landmark of Nepal at Swayambhunath Stupa of more than 2,500 years old a Buddhist Chaitya or Stupa with all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha.
Afternoon visit holy Hindu Temple of Pashupatinath adorned with silver doors and golden tiers roofed pagoda a popular and famous temple where thousands of pilgrims visits every year in the month of February on Shiva Rartri (Lord Shiva birth anniversary). After an interesting and exciting tour of world heritage sites return back to hotel for Amadablam Climb preparation.
Transfer to the domestic airport for one of the great flights of the Himalaya.
If the sky is clear during the flight, one can get the first views of the Mt. Everest.
Small aircraft will take you to hillside village and town at Lukla, starting point of the trek and expeditions.
Here meet our camping other staff and porters and set head for Phakding, situated on the banks of the Dudh Kosi River, which drains the whole of the Khumbu.
Walk leads up on the banks of Dudh Kosi River, crossing over suspension bridges, before reaching Monjo, the entrance of Sagarmatha National Park. From here crossing confluence of the Dudh Kosi and Bhote Kosi rivers on a high suspension bridge and climb steeply for about two hours to Namche Bazaar for overnight stop.
Namche a prosperous trading town capital of Khumbu areas, where many Tibetans cross the nearby border to trade their wares in the local market which fascinating to visit.
This is a good place for rest and acclimatization day, just across the valley to the east stand the peaks of Thamserku and Kangtega, both very impressive mountains.
Rest and at leisure allowing the bodies to become more acclimatized to the altitude of 11,300ft and 3,440m. On this day relax or take a short walk to Everest View Hotel for better panorama of Everest and Amadablam with surrounding beautiful peaks and landscapes.
The trail of Everest a well worn trail contours around side of the valley high above Dudh Kosi, with good views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and Amadablam and then past farm villages and numerous tea shops.
Walk leads to a descend to a bridge over Imjaste River, to reach at Phunge Tenga an excellent lunch spot, from here a steep climb to Thyangboche Monastery . Although tiring, the 2 hours haul up the zig-zag path has numerous distractions, with rhododendron bushes, beautiful birds and superb mountain scenery. Thyangboche is famous for its monastery, the largest in Khumbu.
Morning descend gradually into woods, cross Imja tse Khola and climb steadily to Pangboche. This is directly opposite of Amadablam (6,856 m.), and is a good place to stop-by for the lunch and overnight camp overlooking the excellent view of Amadablam, Kangtenga with Thermasarkhu, afternoon free for local hike to upper village and visit the local old monastery.
From the camp descend towards the Imjatse River and cross the small wooden bridge, after the river a steep climb of 40 minutes leads to a large meadow with couple of Yak Herders huts. From here the walk is on the gradual uphill path till the base of Amadablam is reached. The camp is on the large field beneath the towering majestic peak of Amadablam.
A rest day, for complete rest and preparation for the climb enjoy views of surrounding beautiful landscapes.
From Base Camp follow old grassy moraine ridges roughly eastwards to a broad saddle from one can see a Mingbo-La. From the saddle turn north and climb up rocky ground and finally through boulders to the ridge below Pt.5, 705 which is the site of camp I. There are four or five tents platforms.
During these 10 days you will be engrossed dividing the loads and checking your equipment for the final assault.
From here start the climb pushing up and fixing ropes carrying loads up to higher camps and then using Camp I and II on top yellow tower, which gives one of the hardest pitches on the climb at VS/Hard VS (5.8).
Continue up on a broad gully between a gray tower and lower rock buttress, climb a snow slope to ‘ Santa’s Grotto’ at the start of Mushroom ridge, and Climb snow with Ice slope to the top of hanging glacier. An ice crest now leads in a magnificent position to the summit.
Grand Views! Descend safely back to base camp by Day 19-21. At this point the porters will arrive for our walk out to Lukla.
Today after regaining the energy back after the hard climb, everyone will be engaged cleaning up the base camp and packing. Please take all the dead used or unused batteries back home.
An easy downhill of few hours brings you back to the Imjatse River after the river a short climb towards Pangboche.
Retrace the journey back to Monjo via Namche Bazaar for the overnight stop.
Last day of this great trek will be one of the good walk to Lukla, enjoying the lush green scenery around. Apart from few short uphill the only long climb will be just before Lukla which will take approximately 40 minutes from a place called Chop lung or from the old big oak tree. On reaching Lukla, prepare for the last day great dinner and a party with the fellow Sherpa crew, porters and trekking members.
The flight time to Kathmandu, in morning normally, sometime flight can be delayed due to bad weather and other reason. This scenic flight from Lukla takes about 35 minutes to Kathmandu, a panoramic view of the snow capped peaks can be seen from window of the plane, arriving at Kathmandu domestic terminal transfer back to hotel.
A free day in Kathmandu, for rest after a hard and great climb where one can join in for short tour in and around Kathmandu Valley.
Your last day in Nepal in the country of high Himalaya with fascinating culture and memorable time on Mt. Amadablam Expeditions around high and scenic Khumbu Valley with wonderful experience, as per your international flight time transfer to airport for the flight back home or to respective countries.
