Itinerary

Day 1

After your arrival at the TIA (Tribhuwan International Airport), Kathmandu, you are received with warm and hearty welcome by our friendly and accommodating staff along with welcoming banner stand sign outside the arrival terminal. Meanwhile, it is followed up by short welcoming procedure in a typical Nepali tradition and you are escorted to the luxurious hotel in Kathmandu. During this time period, you can feel the vibes of the bustling lifestyle of Kathmandu city. Various cultural heritages and ancient sculptures with magnificent monasteries are the center of attraction in Kathmandu city.  Furthermore, you are provided with pleasantly brief details regarding your stay in hotel. Day 2

One of the explorative days begins with your breakfast and the wonderful morning vibes of the center of Kathmandu.

Highlighting Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, and Boudhanath as the main attractions.

Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple)

Start your exploration at the iconic Swayambhunath Stupa, perched on a hill offering breathtaking views of Kathmandu Valley. Known as the Monkey Temple due to its lively monkey inhabitants, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a revered Buddhist sanctuary.

Pashupatinath Temple

Boudhanath Stupa

Day 3

You leave your hotel early morning with a packed breakfast from the hotel you stayed. You are picked up from your hotel and you set out for a drive to the domestic section of TIA airport where you take an early morning scenic flight to Lukla. You can have an aerial view of panoramic mountains and birds view of the high hills and mountain ranges.

The thrilling and exciting flight to Lukla is an amazing journey from where you start your first hike to Phakding. It covers the forest areas, small villages and rivers on the way. Lukla is situated at an altitude of 2840m whereas Phakding is at an altitude of 2640m.

Note: As the flight schedule might change due to current system made by the airline companies. The flight might be from Ramechap, the eastern part of Nepal, around 131 km from Kathmandu. Weather forecast is also another factor for fight delay. If there is delay in the flight, another suitable alternative is taken into consideration.

Day 4

After you take breakfast at Phakding, you set out for a hike to Namche Bazaar. This hike is estimated to be around 5 to 7 hours as per your strength and body condition and Namche is located at an altitude of 3440m.

During this hike, you encounter with outstanding mountain ranges and Dudhkoshi river flowing along the side of the Namche Bazaar. Meanwhile, at Manju, you receive the Sagarmatha National Park Permit. You have your lunch before you go ahead than Joshalle, as this place is the last point to get food until you reach to Namche Bazaar.

This hike covers the dense forest with a glimpse of Everest and Lhotse before you reach to Namche Bazaar only in the condition i.e. the weather must be good and the view must be clear and visible. This inclining trial becomes more exciting as you are heading towards the gateway of Mt. Everest and the well-known trading center of Nepal.

Day 5

This day is allocated for acclimatization in order to adopt with the increasing altitude. On this day, you hike to Everest View Point Hotel which is 3840m where you can see the best view of highest mountain of the world.

Along with this, there are lots of exciting and beautiful spots like coffee shops, bars and restaurants to spend a quality time in a peaceful way.

As this is the trading center so that you can visit around Namche Bazaar and Namche Museum which is 20 minutes hike from Namche eventually hiking to Namche Monastery.

Day 6

This day is allocated for the trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche and it is considered to be the exciting trek as you reach to Tengboche which has beautiful monasteries and the further you head towards this beautiful place; the tree line declines and the beautiful stupas can be clearly visible throughout the way. You can find monks on the way with whom you can take blessings from them as they are considered to be the priest of the Himalayan Region. Tengboche monastery is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region as you can see lots of prayers flags, prayers stones and prayers wheels filled with religious importance. Day 7

After early morning breakfast, you start a quiet challenging hike to Dingboche as you traverse through the diverse landscapes and glacial river. The topography of this hike is amazing and your soul blends in this wonderful natural creation leaving behind all those hectic and noisy lifestyles. During this trek you go through the Pangboche Village where you can see the beautiful view of the Mt. Ama Dablam and you also cross the suspension bridge. Day 8

After taking breakfast at Dingboche, you set out for a short and scenic trek in the Khumbu Region of Nepal. During this journey, the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks like Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Nuptse widen to make the view more amazing and mesmerizing. This trek is mostly uphill as you have to gain some height making this trek quite challenging and rewarding with the stunning scenery on the way.
The most exciting part of this trek is you get a chance to experience the warm hospitality of the Sherpa people and the people living in the Himalayan region. Along the way, trekkers also passes through Imja Khola and cross some of the suspension bridges.

Chhukung is the best place to acclimatize before reaching the summit. It is the perfect stop before starting the adventurous journey to reach to the top of the Island peak also known as Imja Tse. The surrounding of Chhukung village offers you the exciting and panoramic views of the mountains.

Eventually, the trek from Dingboche to Chhukung is an exciting trek that provides the trekkers a wonderful opportunity to explore the gorgeous panoramic views of the Himalayas and the Sherpa culture, custom and tradition.

Day 9

After breakfast at Island peak base camp, you set out for a trek to Island peak base camp. The trek from Chhukung to Island peak base camp is quite challenging as it covers the steep ascents mostly up hill. However, the stunning and gorgeous views of the surrounding peaks like Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Nuptse make this trek worthwhile.
The exciting part of this trek is that you pass through the Lhotse glacier. Along with the moraines and rocky terrain. It seems quite challenging, however the stunning views of the high altitude landscapes and the Himalayas make you forget all your tiredness.
During this trek, the trekkers must be equipped with the necessary gears for the rocky terrains and the changing weather. The trekking leader provides you all the necessary precautions to be taken. It is advised to consult with the trekking leader for taking any action during the trek. It minimizes the risk of the AMS (Acute mountain sickness).
After reaching to Island peak base camp, you are provided with the accommodation in the tent prepared by our staff. And, an overnight stay there.

Day 10

After breakfast at Island peak base camp, you set out for a self-walk around the place to experience the unique view of the high altitude landscapes. The panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and the different vibes around the place makes your stay at Island peak base camp memorable and exciting.
You aim to reach to the summit the next day. Thus, you have to be mentally and physically prepared for that. It is really important for the trekkers to acclimatize before the climb to the summit. And, this place is the perfect stop for acclimatization and rest day.
Pre training is also important factor in the base camp. Climbers should learn using the climbing gears properly. The practice of using the harnesses, ropes and ice axes are the basic necessity of this pre training.
Under the guidance of the experience climbing leader, you are provided with the climbing techniques, such as ice climbing and glacier travel. Along with this, the climbers must focus on the nutrition and the hydration. For preventing from the dehydration and maintain proper energy level, climbers must consume enough calories and the fluids.
Eventually, it is important for the climbers to rest, acclimatize and pre train for the successful attempt to the summit of the Island peak.

Day 11

Your wait is over. Early morning around midnight you set for a climb to Island peak. You start this journey as early as possible to prevent from the reflection through the snow glare and strong wind afterwards. Fully equipped with the necessary gears, you start this challenging and rewarding trip.

The climb comprised of the crossing the glacier and ascending the steep slopes of the mountain. The final step to reach to the summit involves the steep climb up a snow ridge that urges for the use of fixed ropes and crampons. After reaching the top of the summit, the climbers experience the beauty of being there that many climbers wish for. The surrounding peaks and the surrounding Himalayan landscapes are astounding. This experience becomes your once in a lifetime experience and unforgettable memory.

After successfully reaching the summit, the climbers descend back to the island peak base camp. The descent is also challenging as you must pass through the steep and the icy slopes while maintaining the control and balance. It is easier for the climbers to descend rather than to ascend.

After plenty of rest at Island peak base camp, you return back to Chhukung. You return back the same route. You can view the reflection of your climb and enjoy the surrounding peaks from the different aspect during your descent. Upon reaching to Chhukung, climbers can celebrate the achievement of reaching the top with a hot meal and a good night’s sleep.

Eventually, this overall journey becomes the memorable and unforgettable one. This whole journey requires proper training, preparation and acclimatization. Day 12

After the relaxing night at Tengboche, your next destination is Tengboche. The trek from Chhukung to Tengboche is a scenic and rewarding experience in the Everest Region of Nepal. Tengboche is the small village located at an altitude of 3860 m, it is widely famous for the Tengboche Monastery, which is the largest monastery in the Khumbu region.

This trek takes you through the variety of landscapes, including the alpine forests, scenic ridges and traditional Sherpa villages. The trial passes through the Pangboche village that offers you the picturesque of the Sherpa village and the most beautiful peaks in the Everest region, Mt. Ama Dablam.

The monastery is an important center and the integral part of the Buddhist learning and practice in the region. You can witness the monks chanting and performing the religious rituals. With this beautiful vibes, an overnight stay there.

Day 13

After breakfast at Tengboche, you set out for a scenic and enjoyable journey to Namche Bazaar. It is the vibrant town located at an altitude of 3440 m and is the main trading center in the Khumbu region.

The trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar offers the stunning views of the surrounding peaks including Mt. Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kangtega. The trial offers you the stunning views of the rhododendron and pine forests, traditional Sherpa villages and suspension bridges over the Dudh Koshi River.

The most exciting part of this trek is the Khumjung village, the traditional Sherpa village located above Namche Bazaar. The village includes the stunning views of the surrounding Himalayas and is widely renowned for the Khumjung Monastery, which has the Yeti Scalp. You can also visit the Hillary School, established by Sir Edmund Hillary for providing education to the children of the Himalayan region.

Day 14

After an early morning breakfast, you set out for a hike to Lukla for an early morning flight back to Kathmandu. During descending down to Lukla, you cross the Hillary Suspension Bridge and the route of the Dudh Koshi River Valley. This is the final day of your trek and after this day, your trekking is over and you can have the best memories to share with your loved ones in the future. With all the memories from this trek you ultimately aim to reach Lukla, the final destination of this trek.

Day 15

After landing on International Airport of Kathmandu, you are escorted back to the Hotel.

Company provides the following facilities regarding the climbing gears

Duffle bag – Company provides the duffle bag to carry all your climbing gears except your light luggage during the trek.

Company provides you the renting facilities of the gears and you can rent the gears in Nepal and you have to pay on your own. The gears renting costs around USD 2 to USD 2.5 per day.

Note: If there is any damage in the rented gears, then you must reimburse for the damaged material as per its original cost.

Flight information for the Everest Region trek

Flight Routes to Lukla

Ramechhap (Manthali Airport) → Lukla

During peak trekking seasons (Autumn: late Sept–Nov; Spring: Mar–May), CAAN has designated Ramechhap Airport as the primary departure point for flights to Lukla to reduce congestion at Kathmandu’s airport and improve operational efficiency.

Drive from Kathmandu to Ramechhap:

  • Distance is approximately 130–132 km from Kathmandu to Ramechhap (Manthali).
  • Driving time is 4–5 hours (sometimes 6+ depending on traffic/road conditions).

Flight Duration & Timing

  • Ramechhap → Lukla: approximately 15–25 minutes flight.
  • Flights are typically scheduled early in the morning (6:00–10:00 AM) to considering the clearer weather before mountain winds and clouds after that time.

Note: If weather prevents flying, options include waiting to rebook the next day or taking a helicopter charter (at extra cost of your own).

Contingency Days for Weather Delays

  • We recommend to have 1-2 extra days before and after your planned flight days in/out of Lukla.
  • This decision accounts for possible delays or cancellations, especially in peak season.

PRELIMINARY AND KEY NOTES

  • Greeting ‘Namaste’ (your palms held together) is the most respectful and attractive way to greet somebody and is practiced profoundly.
  • Accessibility of internet and phone calls can be made efficient using the mobile SIM Card provided by the company itself or you can buy easily in the local market. All you need is one passport sized photo and a photocopy of your physical passport in either case.
  • There are lots of major cultural heritage sites in Kathmandu along with the ancient monasteries and sculptures. Photos are not taken unless you have asked for the permission.
  • The nightlife in Kathmandu is mostly safe and concentrated in Thamel area, one of the busiest destinations for foreigners to hang out with varied options of bars, restaurants and other places to choose from. Somehow, other areas including small towns are closed before 10pm.

Visa Requirements

Access the Asia Treks provides you the full information prior to the trek. Our representatives are always standby to support you in every situation from the beginning to the final departure. We try our best to make you feel like home with supportive staffs and friendly environment.

You can get VISA on Arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport; or online in advance through Nepal’s Department of Immigration website (for a pre-arrival application).

You will need:

  • A passport valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date
  • A passport-sized photo (if applying on arrival)
  • Visa fees in cash (USD or major currencies)

Welcome and escorting to hotel

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you are warmly welcomed by a representative from Access the Asia Treks highlighting the Nepali tradition. You are then escorted to the hotel, where you can take some time to rest and settle in after your journey to Nepal.

Depending on your flight’s arrival time, the trip briefing will be conducted either the same day or the following day.

Guide & Safety Information

You are provided with an experienced leader who can lead you to your destination with proper supervision and care. You are taken care of your comfortable stay and day to day supervision of your balanced diet, water intake, gradual ascend and proper sleep.

As Altitude Sickness is most probable in this region, thus, proper acclimatization and day to day strategy is necessary which is taken into proper consideration from our staffs.

FAQ

Island peak also known as Imja Tse lies in the Everest Region of Nepal. It is called Island peak because it is surrounded by the ice and glaciers as seen from Dingboche. It is located at an altitude of 6189 m (20,305 feet) in the Khumbu region, one of the best destinations for many trekkers. This climb is considered to be the favorite destination for the novice climbers and experienced climbers. They can gain some mountaineering and technical skills during the climbing process. It is the thrilling and exciting experience one can have in this particular journey.

The best time to climb the Island peak via EBC is during the pre-monsoon season starting from March to May (March – May). And, during the post-monsoon season from September to November (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is stable and visibility is clear and excellent offering the stunning views of the Himalayas.
However, other seasons, the weather is unpredictable that makes the trek tedious and difficult.

Climbing Island peak is considered to be the moderately difficult climb. However, for the first time climbers, it might be challenging. It involves the long days of hiking in the high altitude, rocky terrains, moraines, icy terrains and snowy path. It requires the use of ice axes, ropes and crampons. However, with the proper training and acclimatization, it is achieved with good level of physical and mental fitness. Along with this, our experienced trekking and climbing leader takes proper actions necessary to make your climb successful and full of excitement.

Basically, prior climbing is not mandatory. However, it is recommended to have a good physical and mental fitness before attempting this climb. If you have some basic mountaineering skills and technical climbing ideas, then it is always a plus point. Along with this, you are provided with a pre training session before the climb. This pre training provides you the necessary information to use the climbing gears and some technical and mountaineering skills. This pre training is provided by our experienced trekking leader and climbing leader.

Safety protocols and precautions are mandatory for the successful and safe climbing. For your safety, you are provided with the necessary climbing gears and equipment before the trek. Some you can hire on your own and you can buy rest of the necessary gears. With proper use of the climbing gears, this climb is safe and easy. Along with the support from our experienced team members, this trek and climb seems achievable. You can have once in a lifetime experience during this climb.

Altitude sickness is a common issue among the trekkers and climbers who ascend in high altitudes in a quick succession. Many use Diamox to prevent themselves from AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). This is not considered good without the permission of the trekking leader and the climbing leader. Proper acclimatization, hydration, avoid of alcohol and smoking, slow ascend and good mental and physical fitness is required. This can prevent yourself from the altitude sickness and make your trip safe. If you have any long term diseases, then you have to consult with the trekking leader prior to the trekking days.

For your safety and proper record, Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) obtain a climbing permit. Along with this, you need Sagarmatha National Park Permit and TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System). These are the mandatory permits required for the Everest Region trek. All these permits are included in the package and our company will manage these permits for you prior to the trekking days or later. We assure your safety during the trek so that you can enjoy full heartedly.

During the trek, you are provided with the tea houses and lodges. Lodges provide you the proper accommodation and proper facilities as compared to the tea houses. However, tea houses provide you the basic amenities and basic requirements with clean surrounding. You can have the amazing vibes of the Himalayan region. The accommodation are comfortable during the trek.
However, during the climb, camping is required. You are provided with the tent facility with camping equipment installed by our team. An experienced cook and camping staffs are provided to manage everything at the top.
